257. How milk is produced in mammals?
Verse (16:66) of the Quran speaks about the way milk is produced in mammals.
It was believed in the past that the blood changed into milk in the body of the animals. THis was the notion until last century.
Verse (16:66) of the Quran speaks of production of milk in animals being gotten from what is being imbibed in their bellies and in the intermediate stages of the formation of blood. This verse says the blood does not in itself convert to milk.
Mammals have two intestines , a small intestine and a large intestine. The food that is taken in by the animal is broken down in the small intestine and imbibed nourished.
(The cows‘s special four chambered stomach breaks down grasses into things that nourish it and produce milk. The first chamber softens chewed plant material, which the cow burps up and chews again several times. There , special cells combine the nutrients with sugars from the cow’s liver to create milk.)
While the roughage is pushed into the large intestine, which before being excreted in the intermediate stage gives rise to milk and later blood..
The excretion is the roughpage and the broken down food mixture in the large intestine from which before being turned into blood by various processes in the biochemistry of the animal milk is produced .
This is what the message in the Quran reveals as the stage in between the conversion from food to excretion and blood.
If it is taken as previously believed that blood is converted into milk, then it necessarily means the next stage after blood is milk, but the Quran says the stage before blood is milk. Let’s see what modern science says regarding this?
Blood is not converted into milk, rather the food that is taken in by the animal is broken down in the small intestine and turns out to be a semi solid mixture from which the animal gets its nourishment.
The blood stream collects the necessary nutrients needed to create milk to the udders, where the nutrients are converted to milk. It has been established by the scientists of the 21st century that milk is produced in the animal at a stage before when blood is produced and roughage is converted to excreta. This is yet another proof that the Quran is the word of God when we find the verse saying ‘’we are feeding you with pure milk from its stomach in between the production of excreta and blood.
