459. Is Jesus the son of God?

Verses (3:49, 3:59, 4:171, 4:172, 5:17, 5:72, 5:73, 5:116, 9:31, 19:30, 43:59, 43:64) of the Quran say Prophet Isa is not the son of God, but a prophet of the Almighty. The Quran does not accept the claim of Christians that Jesus is the son of God, or God himself.

Jesus never said he is God himself. He preached the creator should be worshipped, but people who came after him, concocted an ideology making him the son of God, is the stand of Islam.

The same opinion being stressed by the Bible could be found existing even today.

Exodus 20:3 “You shall have no other gods beforeme

Deuteronomy 4:35 You were shown these things so that you might know that the Lord is God; besides him there is no other.

6:4-6

4. Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.

5. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.

6. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts.

Isaiah 46:9 Remember the former things, those of long ago;

I am God, and there is no other;

John 17:3,4

3. Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.

4. I have brought you glory on earth by finishing the work you gave me to do.

Matthew 22:36-38

36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”

37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’

38 This is the first and greatest commandment.

Matthew 20:21 “What is it you want?” he asked.

She said, “Grant that one of these two sons of mine may sit at your right and the other at your left in your kingdom.”

Jesus did not reply to her by saying ‘I will fulfill your request’. But this was his answer to her:

Matthew 20:23 Jesus said to them, “You will indeed drink from my cup, but to sit at my right or left is not for me to grant. These places belong to those for whom they have been prepared by my Father.”

Jesus mentioned himself very often as the son of man.

Refer :Matthew 8:20, 9:6, 9:8, 16:13, 17:22, 17:12, 17:9, 19:28, 20:18, 20:28, 24:27, 26:24, 26:45

The above cited verses of the Bible declare Jesus as the son of man.

Jesus has declared himself in some places of the Bible as the son of Lord alluding to one who acts as per the commands of the Almighty. And not one born to God, because not only Jesus, few others are also mentioned in the Bible as sons of the Lord. Those verses are also understood by Christians similarly.

Verses from Exodus 4:22,23 and Jeremiah 31:9 say Israel as the son of God.

The verse 2:7 of Psalm and 17:13 of First Chronicle talk of David as the son of God.

Verse 22:10 of Chronicle talks of Solomon as the son of God.

The verses 31:9 of Jeremiah talk of Ephraim and verse 7:14 of Samuel the second talk of Samuel as sons of God.

All men are referred to as sons of God. Refer :Deteromomy 14:1, Psalms 68:5, Matthew 6:14,15, Matthew 5:9, Matthew 5:45, Matthew 7:11, Matteww 23:9, John 1:12, Luke 6:35

Hence the ideology Jesus is the son of God is contrary to the preachings of the Bible.

The argument that Jesus was not born like other men to a human and was born to God, and is also a God himself is against the Bible.

The word Jesus was ‘born without a father’ divulges the fact that he was very well was given birth to. If due stress is given to the word ‘born without father’ will make Christians realize Jesus is not God. and the Bible clearly says Jesus was born to a mother.

And the Bible also mentions still more who were born without male counterparts.

Luke 3:38 talks of Adam being created without a father.

Also Genesis 2:21,22 talk of Eve being created without a father and a mother.

The verse Hebrews 7:3 talks of Melchizedek being created without a father and mother.

Similarly, just by performing miracles Jesus cannot be called as the son of God, there were many who performed greater miracles than Jesus could be found in the Bible.

In Elijah 17:22 of the first kings and in 4:34 and 13:21 of the second kings it is being said Elijajah brought to life a dead person.

And it can be seen in verses 17:13-16, 17:6, of the first kings and in 4:42-44, 4:2-6, 5:10, 5:14, 6:17, 6:20, 6:6, of the second kings and in Exodus 14:22 many have performed miracles

Jesus sometimes performed miracles with the permission of God, but was a human being all through. Any one going through the Bible can realize he remained with all human traits like, hunger, ignorance, getting cheated, senseless anger etc.

And Jesus himself has declared performing miracles is not a proof to declare one as the son of God.

Mattew 7:22,23

22 On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’

23 And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness

Mattew 7:24, 25

24. For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

25.Behold, I have told you before

Hence Jesus preached and practiced one ideology of Monotheism and there are no sons for God.

The priests in order to receive the same reverence as the Lord himself created an ideology as the father, the son and the holy spirit calling it Trinity by declaring, since the Holy Spirit has descended on them they are also God themselves.
