504. Did the offspring of Adam marry within siblings?
In verses (4:1, 7:26, 7:27, 7:31, 78:35, 7:172, 7:189, 17:70, 36:60, 39:6) of the Quran it is said the Almighty created a pair of humans directly and and the whole mankind resulted as their descendants.
The Islamic belief is Adam and Hawwa are the first human beings to be created in this world. Since no humans were created before them, conjugal relationships would have taken place only between the siblings.
If a question is asked whether a marital relationship between siblings is appropriate now, the answer is an absolute no.
When there was a single couple in the whole world, Allah did permit marriage between the siblings. There was a need for such an arrangement at that point of time, and they cannot be accused of committing a crime. Here again a question can be raised as to why couldn’t the Almighty create two sets of couples in the beginning and start intermarriage.
There is an important reason for the Almighty to have created a single pair of humans in the beginning.
Only if the concept the whole humankind is from a single set of parents is established can discrimination among men be completely shut and universal brotherhood be maintained.
