226. Proof in the Quran for five times a day worship.

Muslims all over are aware of their mandatory duty to perform worship five times a day.

In the Quran we do not find a direct mention of the five times worship. We find proof only in the hadiths of Prophet Muhammad..

Though we do not find a direct mention of this in the Quran, verse 11:114 is one of those where we find an indirect reference..

the verse says to perform worship at the two edges of daylight and also in parts of the night. Here we find the word “ Parts” of the night in plural.

In the Arabic language to designate something as plural the numerical determiner is a minimum of three.

There is word structure in Arabic to refer to duality to mention two objects ( Though the word plural is used to mention the same in other languages )Hence we need to conclude the word “Parts of the night” refer to a minimum of three times worship.

The three times worship in parts of the night refer to Maghrib, Isha, and Fajr.and the worship at the edges of daylight refers to Zuhr and Asr.

This indirect mention in the Quran about five times worship is what Prophet Muhammad has explained in the hadiths.People saying there are only three times a day worship are contradicting the Quran and Prophet Muhammad’s sayings
